Cranberry Cake with Hot Butter Sauce

CAKE:
2 Tbsp. Butter
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 cup milk
2 cups whole raw cranberries (thawed)
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients to mixture alternately with milk. Fold in cranberries. Pour in greased floured 8" or 9" pan. Bake in oven at 400° for about 30-35 minutes or until done. Serve warm with hot butter sauce.
BUTTER SAUCE:
½ cup butter
1 cup sugar
½ cup half and half cream or milk
Melt butter in saucepan; blend in sugar; and then stir in cream. Simmer 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve over warm cake.
